Matcha Types

Ceremonial Grade
The highest quality matcha, made from the youngest first-harvest leaves. It has a vibrant green color, smooth texture, and a naturally sweet, umami-rich flavor, ideal for drinking on its own.

Premium Grade
A high-quality matcha suitable for daily use. It offers a balanced profile with mild sweetness and slight bitterness, making it ideal for both straight consumption and lattes.

Culinary Grade
A more robust matcha with a stronger, more bitter flavor. It is designed for mixing, making it ideal for desserts, baking, and flavored beverages.
Matcha Grades
Matcha is classified into different grades based on leaf quality, harvest timing, and processing. Younger, shade-grown leaves produce a finer, brighter green powder with higher amino acid content and a smoother, sweeter taste.
As leaf maturity increases, the flavor becomes stronger and more astringent, with a less vibrant color. These differences determine whether the matcha is best suited for direct consumption or for use in cooking and beverages.
